Frizzy hair is certainly a common and very unwanted struggle.

For some of you, it probably feels like a battle you’ll never win, especially in humidity, without constantly heat styling it, or those of you who have curly hair.

I am going to give you five ways to fight against the frizz. Some of these will be used as a “mask” to get you the style you desire with limited frizz and a few will be addressing some of the root causes that may be creating frizz for you that you can hopefully tackle.

  1. Switch to a silk pillowcase

If you are prone to frizzy hair, you want to avoid excess friction.

While sleeping on a silk pillowcase, your hair will simply glide smoothly on your pillow as you move around in your sleep.

With a cotton pillowcase, there will be excess friction because it is a rough surface. Tangles and frizz will be a result, as you toss and turn in your sleep.

This could be the root cause for some of your frizz, especially if you have curly hair and already fight it on the daily.

2. Make sure you are conditioning your hair enough

By “enough”, I mean how much are you prioritizing hydration when it comes to your hair?

Dry hair will always equal frizz no matter what the texture is. It is important to be using a quality conditioner after every wash and adding in a mask/deep condition every other wash.

Additionally, prepping your hair with a leave in conditioner will help coat the hair with hydration to fight against frizz later on in the day.

3. Use heat protectant

I definitely sound like a broken record when I talk about protecting your hair from the heat, but it truly does affect our hair in many different ways. Frizz is one of those!

Heat damages the hairs texture and it also dry’s it out. As mentioned above, dry hair = frizz and if your hairs texture is damaged whether it be split ends or rough strands, frizz will be the result.

Right out of the shower before heat touches your hair in any way, you should always be using either a cream of spray heat protectant to ensure you are maintaining its integrity.

My favorite heat protectant is Maria Nila Quick Dry Heat Spray

4. Use a microfiber towel turban and ditch the rough cotton towel for drying

Using a cotton towel and rubbing your hair dry with it can cause excess frizz especially for curly haired gals.

Instead of using your body towel for your hair, switch to using a microfiber towel turban, wrap your hair up and let it dry that way.

This will prevent extra friction when your hair is wet to help tame frizz when it dries.

Good styles begin right out of the shower.

5. Style wisely

There are indeed products designed specifically to tame frizz.

All are hydrating and some are humidity defending.

Others are geared toward masking the hair with product so that you can get through a day or event without frizz.

A couple of my favorites include:

Amika The Shield (anti-humidity spray)

Alterna Caviar Anti-aging Smoothing Anti-frizz Blowout Butter

Moroccan Oil Hydrating Styling Cream
